Senior Graphic Designer Blanca Abend has successfully paved her way to a unique career fueled by passion. With nearly 4 decades of design experience, Blanca brings incredible insight to Riley’s Marketing Department, where she works on professional graphics for advertisements, branding, and events, jobsite photography, and high-level print production.
After completing her BA in Graphic Design, Blanca worked in a variety of industries until she found her true passion in construction. She fell in love with the processes, the people, and the satisfaction she felt at the end of each day. “I was absolutely hooked and in love with the activities I found in the construction world,” she added. Blanca’s artistic eye is useful in the construction industry, as she can easily capture a distinct perspective and communicate it visually.
Blanca is a member of The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and enjoys networking and collaborating with marketing professionals in the AEC industry. She also enjoys giving back and was very moved when she recently volunteered with Feed My Starving Children. In her free time, Blanca enjoys sailing with her husband and assists with The South Shore Yacht Club (SSYC) and MAST-Racing.
Blanca’s advice to young women and girls who are thinking about a future in construction is: “FOLLOW YOUR PASSION. Love what you do and be passionate about it. Remember a passion is a goal/activity that motivates you. It stimulates you to succeed in your life and career while enjoying it, even on the hardest days. Follow the interests, ideas and projects that make you feel accomplished and motivated. Remember that enjoying what you do will inspire you to work harder, gain new knowledge, get better, be smarter, and become great at it! Everyone will love to work with you and respect your ideas for it.”
