Riley Construction utilizes Lean construction practices for all of its projects. Establishing and maintaining supplier relationships, managing costs collaboratively by driving out all forms of unnecessary costs through the more effective utilization of labor and materials, developing continuous improvement though the use of in-house roundtables and developing people with expert and relevant coaching, training and support are key lean initiatives.
As a company standard, Riley projects are required to have a 3 week look ahead schedule. The team is forced to think about what should be completed each day. There is a much better understanding of causes for not completing activities and the effect on future activities for the next several days. All tradesmen bought into the collaboration and know what was expected. There are instant/daily results of production and they are able to change and adjust the plan for rest of week and future weeks.
