As a part of Gehl Corporation’s world headquarters new corporate office and research-and-development (R&D) expansion project, Riley Construction provided general contracting services associated with the R&D building renovation and expansion. This included the interior build-out of existing building, structural steel additions, a mechanical room addition in back of building, and precast plank ceilings, drywall offices, consisting of all finishes, carpet, tile, painting. It also included demolition of exterior openings for new doors and windows, and exterior metal panel patching.
Unique characteristics of this job consist of the selective demolition required to install curtain wall and store front window systems while maintaining the integrity of the existing building; this includes: coordinating the installation of new structural steel members in many locations. Riley also coordinated a complete metal panel reskin of the existing building. The installation of precast plank ceilings required strict attention to detail using lifts from below, due to lack of above operating room as a result of a joisted ceiling. The most challenging aspect of this job was to maintain coordination with numerous other contractors while progressing through the phases of a condensed schedule.
