Riley Construction provided construction management services for the new New Berlin Public Library.
Nestled on the edge of a large natural setting, the new 55,117 SF library has a prairie-style design featuring a brick and stone exterior. A two-story atrium highlights the circulation desk. Other areas feature a quiet reading area with fireplace, a children’s program area where children can engage in arts and crafts activities, a public meeting/community room with seating for approximately 150, a local history room and a “Friends of The Library” store.
Technology was integrated in the building design which provides for wireless telephones and high-bandwidth multimedia communication. It was also the first library in the Midwest to offer an automated radio frequency identification materials check-in and sorting system.
