Carthage College -David A. Straz Center for the Natural & Social Sciences Central Plant

Riley was chosen to provide Construction Management Services for the 70,000-square-foot major renovation of the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Natural and Social Sciences, that included a new 35,000-square-foot wing to the south and east, embracing the center’s Lake Michigan location at Carthage College. The $34.5 million, 3-floor science center increased classroom and laboratory space by 40 percent, provided state-of-the-art facilities for study in the natural sciences, and provide new ways for students and faculty to collaborate on forefront research.
The central plant expansion and modifications include:

  • (2) 324 Ton Chillers
  • (3) Pumps 530 GPM, 25 HP
  • 400kW, 277/480V Natural Gas Generator
  • (1) 500kVA Substation
  • 3,000kVA, 5000A Substation
