Construction on Three Elementary Schools Completed On Time and Under Budget
Construction on the new Olympia Brown and Knapp Elementary Schools, and the newly remodeled and expanded Gifford Elementary School, finished on time and under budget! The Racine Unified School District (RUSD) celebrated with ribbon cutting ceremonies in August, and school started on time in September. These are the first new schools built in the district in more than 40 years.
The new Olympia Brown Elementary School is located in Caledonia, WI. This science-focused school is a spacious 67,000 square feet to fit the expanding needs of the students and staff.
The new 69,000-square-foot Knapp Elementary School was built to be a community school with the goal to improve student learning while building stronger families and healthy communities. RUSD is collaborating with the United Way of Racine County to develop community programming.
Gifford Elementary School in Caledonia almost doubled its size with a large 78,000-square-foot addition. The school can now accommodate students in grades 4K-8, to fit the growing needs of the community.
